Mentorship & Support

"It takes a village to raise a child. " (African Proverb)

What is a Mentor?
A role model

A person that gives wise advice

A person that offers on-the-job training to help you build your skills in a particular area

A person that helps you think through a challenging situation
A person that walks alongside you and encourages you

Why do children need mentors?
Mentors help children feel valued.
Mentors help improve children’s self-esteem.
Mentors help build emotional resilience.

Mentors become a consistent and reliable presence that a child can run to when feeling insecure or unsure.

Studies show that mentoring
reduces at risk behavior in children
motivates children to become goal oriented
improves academic success

Kidz with Hope Youth Organization staff see themselves as mentors to every child that participates in its activities. Mentorship is a part of every Kidz with Hope Youth Organization’s programs- from going on a field trip to participating in a STEM lesson.
